Another great Podcast - always particularly interesting to hear you talking kinda "behind the scenes" about your job and the industrie.

Two things that kinda stood out to me:

- People not being good enough for Illustrators, so they become Grafic Designers:
I know you didn't generalize that (and if I'm not mistaken, you quoted someone else), but I'm really not sure what to think about that.
Even though I'm a grafic-design student, I currently feel like I can do a lot better as an Illustrator than I could as a grafic-designer (as in, making layouts for magazines and things like that). I feel that both GD and Illustration kinda go hand-in-hand, but yet, the requirements can be a little different for either one of the two.
Then again, I'm still rather new to this field, so I might be in the wrong here.

- Being able to do what you love to do (which is art) is already a reward in itself, not the money.
Extremely well said
I never really thought about this but it just makes a lot of sense.
Remings me once more why I listen to your Podcasts

Yeah, I'm not saying their aren't people who have a complete knack for design and what not, in my experience having spent 7 yrs in a n art school and another 7 working professionally in both art and design, over half GD's are just wannabe artists. It sounds harsh from here, but trust me, you don't knwo how many for them I've met who literally spend their lives tracing other peoples illustrations, or drag and dropping other peoples art on a comp and calling it theirs. I'll def have to clarify this. Tru GD is a combination of art and iconography, its like the difference between Daft Punk and P. Diddy if that makes any sense lol

Well, I do trust your years of experience, so I wouldn't really try to argue wether it's true or not - the clarification was nice, though.
I think I do get where you're coming from.
